Into The Unknown…

“You’re not a voice, you’re just a ringing in my ear….”

With the DVD release of Frozen 2, I was happily thrown back into the adventures of Anna, Elsa, Sven, Christof and Olaf.

As they stepped ‘Into the Unknown’ I found myself not only singing the song over and over, and over, and over….. but also thinking about my own adventures.

I am so excited this year to be stepping ‘into the unknown’ myself with some new projects! I am finally releasing things that i’ve never done before (like the HCC PART ONE e-Book) and it is ABSOLUTELY the ‘unknown’….

It can be scary, exciting, amazing, underwhelming, overwhelming, crazy and all around dream fulfilling to start a career from scratch – but so far it is worth EVERY fear, joy or inspiration that comes with it.

What’s something you’re stepping into that’s unknown this year?? What’s something you WISH you could step into this year?

Let me know in the comments, or on the CGSP Facebook Page so we can step INTO THE UNKOWN Together!

See You in the Adventures (and the music)!

SuperSpy: What Would You Do? | HCC Update

Hannah Carmichael is a SUPER SPY Extraordinaire – but I could never be one…

I am too passive, too nice, and too empathetic to do what she does… but it’s nice to walk ALL THE WAY up to the line, then step back.
I am all for getting into car boots, throwing phones outside of moving vehicles, or trudging through jungle paths when it comes to writing a scene, but that’s as far as it goes!

Having said All of that – it’s always fun to dream about what it would be like… and what I would be able to do.
I could get tickets to ANY concert with a phone call:
“It would be advisable to provide me with two tickets to the Michael Buble concert. We have concerns that an individual at the concert is a risk to themselves, or possibly others.
No, no, you don’t have to cancel it. We have it covered!”

I could travel all over the world, or help my family to wipe out their parking tickets… The list goes on.

Of course, anything I did do for my family or close friends would be ‘off the books’ because who wants their boss asking why I charged $450 for concert tickets to Demi Lovato to my mission expense account… ummmmmm

Doing thorough background checks would certainly be handy – especially when it came to dating somebody.
“Yes, i’m a certified accountant.”
“Really? Because I couldn’t find any records of that in your background check.”
“My what?”

Okay, I can see how that would be awkward, but you get the idea!

What is the one thing that you would do for your family ‘off the books’ if you were a super spy??
Let me know in the comments below!

How Did We End Up Here?

You know those people who say
“I’ve always wanted to be a mechanical engineer – always! And now I am one, and it’s just as good as i’ve always dreamed!”
I don’t actually know too many of those people!

If you are doing what you’ve always dreamed of as a job – props to you! So many people give up, or think their dreams are impossible, and it never happens. Or worse – it does, and it wasn’t what they thought…

When it comes to writing, I am finally doing something that I LOVE – maybe it wasn’t something that i’ve wanted to do my entire life, but my current love affair did start when I was in high school.

My first true writing experience, was in a Creative Writing class elective in Year 9. I got to explore my creativity in another type of writing form (I had already been writing songs for quite a few years, but this was a whole other ball game!).
When I heard about a competition for young writers, I decided to throw my hat into the ring and see what bunny jumped out.

When I heard that I received an ‘honourable mention’ I was so proud! Before I entered, I showed my short ‘novella’ to a teacher (whose advice and notes I still have to this day – he was the first person to tell me I had writing talent) and away it went, warts and all, with a topic I knew almost NOTHING about.

Looking back, it is AWEFUL! But I didn’t stop there, I wrote another (and longer) VERY personal ‘novella’ the next year. I was the FIRST person to enter the contest Two Years in a row (although now there was another person who did the same – but the flag with my face on it was there first) and received SECOND Place for that one.

I was SO PROUD of what I had achieved, but I was dealing with a lot of stuff in my life, so I put the project, and writing in general, aside.

FIVE YEARS LATER, I stumbled onto a website which had a monthly competition where I could win $500!! It was Furious Fiction. Jumping into Furious Fiction every month not only helped me with regular rejection (I am yet to have a shortlisted entry – but happy for all the other writers getting recognition!) and got the creative writing ‘juices’ flowing again! All of a sudden, I had ideas flowing out too fast for my poor fingers to catch up – and Hannah Carmichael was born.

The Hannah Carmichael Chronicles was my first proper character and storyline I had created in Five years, and I was in LOVE – I had also discovered my primary writing genre.

So, where are we now? Well, I have Hannah still going (with some very EXCITING news about her coming soon!) and there are some other Incredible projects and opportunities (which I will tell you about in the coming months) that are taking off at a momentous speed.

I can finally say that I am doing what I love – I am a writer.
What was your dream job as a kid? Are you doing it now?
Let me know in the comments below…

SKILLS | Hannah Carmichael Chronicles (SIXTY-SIX)

Your Briefing:

Hannah Carmichael is a Super Spy, who was trying to take down CGT – the evil spy agency, which she used to be a part of. Her husband Zeke, was secretly working to take them down, and roped Hannah (and her fellow agent and best friend, Stephanie) into the fight.
Hannah’s mother Evelyn was a CGT and Global enemy, but now, she seems to have been on the same side all along. Her Father James, was believed to be dead, and missing for over a decade, but revealed himself from the fight in the shadows to help take them down once and for all.
With Hannah’s memories sketchy after a CGT Kidnapping, she went with Zeke to a Peace Talks conference, where the Cataclysm domino’s were to start falling – but things went unexpectedly. Shots were fired into the crowd, at the leaders on the podium, and Zeke confirmed the shooter was his Boss – supposedly a ‘good guy’. What will this mean for the team, and for Cataclysm – is it still on? What will CGT do to strike back?

SIXTY-SIX

Hannah held the gun in her hand, angling it like she had seen as a kid in movies. It was funny how the memories were returning; slowly. Sometimes they were helpful, others not so much, but they were returning none the less.
The target seemed too far, but she readjusted her grip on the gun properly, letting three shots out of the pistol.

Pulling off her ear protection, she walked slowly towards the target and sighed, tracing her fingers over the perfectly placed shots.
Two to the heart, one to the head; how did she do that?
The door to the warehouse floor screeched open and Hannah turned, her gun raised out of an instinct that she didn’t realise was there. The woman at the door raised her own gun, then sighed as she recognised Hannah.
It was Stephanie Winchester.

“You startled me,” Stephanie said. Hannah slowly lowered her own weapon.
“I guess a spy shouldn’t admit that, but hey, we can’t remember all of our training,” Stephanie smiled then shrugged. As she glanced at Hannah’s target, Stephanie nodded towards it, “Weird huh? How we have the skills, just to not the memory on how we got them.”
Hannah nodded, then put the pistol onto the table and bent to pick up the long arms rifle she’d also carried in for practise.
“Heavy artillery ay?” Stephanie asked, chuckling. “I get some memories of us in remote locations, on missions together. Somehow, I’m not surprised that you’re a good shot.”

Hannah dropped the rifle back into the case and squared her shoulders, “Well I’m surprised. At least someone’s starting to remember, because I can’t remember jack!”
Stephanie raised both hands in a surrendering gesture and sighed, “I’m sorry Hannah. Some of the things that have come back to my mind,” she lowered her shoulders and looked at the ground, “I wish I didn’t have to remember them.”
Stephanie looked back up at Hannah and smiled softly, “You know, we were really close. I’m starting to miss it.”

Hannah stared at the person who only returned to her memories briefly. She’d seen Stephanie in a few mission memories, but the ones in social places, laughing and singing, those were her favourites.
“I just want everything to come back. I’m sick of feeling like I’m constantly out of a semi-familiar loop.”

Stephanie nodded and picked up her gun, holstering it and walking back towards the warehouse doors, “I’ll come back a bit later.”
“Stephanie?”
Stephanie Winchester turned and smiled, “Yeah?”
“Do I even want to remember everything?”
Stephanie shrugged, “maybe not.”

TOP SECRET (The REAL Stuff!) | HCC Update

The Hannah Carmichael Chronicles has gone into some really cool ‘Spy’ stuff over the last year or so! One of which, was a ‘briefing’ document I made… *cough Cough* I mean, FOUND which needed to be heavily redacted!

To check out the Redacted ‘Top Secret’ document, see the link below:
https://atomic-temporary-148610121.wpcomstaging.com/2019/11/14/topsecret/

As far as the REAL ‘Classified’ documents in your respective countries go, they all seem to have one Common feature – Redactions….

You know, those Black marks that look like smudges you just want to scratch off?
(Also an interesting thought to ponder – redactions that act like a ‘scratchy’ – just put on the right glove, then scratch away the black ink and read away!)

Recently, I had fun searching through former FBI Classified files about Frank Sinatra – because who knew he was linked to the Mob!! (Hint: Apparently NOT me). They all looked similar to my HCC redacted document – black covered the ‘good bits’.
The stuff that would give away those important names, places or info that may risk an ongoing investigation or witness from getting rubbed out (get it???).

Have you ever seen a real, honest to goodness, redacted ‘classified’ document? Let me know in the Comments below!

ONCE AND FOR ALL | Hannah Carmichael Chronicles (SIXTY-FIVE)

Your Briefing:

Hannah Carmichael is a Super Spy, who was trying to take down CGT – the evil spy agency, which she used to be a part of. Her husband Zeke, was secretly working to take them down, and roped Hannah (and her fellow agent and best friend, Stephanie) into the fight.
Hannah’s mother Evelyn was a CGT and Global enemy, but now, she seems to have been on the same side all along. Her Father James, was believed to be dead, and missing for over a decade, but revealed himself from the fight in the shadows to help take them down once and for all.

Shots were fired into the crowd, at the leaders on the podium, and Zeke confirmed the shooter was his Boss – supposedly a ‘good guy’. What will this mean for the team, and for Cataclysm – is it still on? What will CGT do to strike back?

SIXTY-FIVE

“Clearly we were wrong!”
Hannah tapped her pen on the large conference table, as shouting from all seats filled the room. They were reeling from the ‘Peace Talk’ debacle, but nobody was rocked as hard as Zeke. He was sitting beside her, arms resting on the table with no shouts to contribute to the discussion.
A whistle from the head of the table pierced through the noise, and silence struck the room.

“Bickering about blame or past actions isn’t productive,” James Carmichael said, leaning against the table and lowering his head.
“Roy, what are our sources telling us about the leaders and their Peace discussions?”
Roy stood with his tablet in hand, reading through their intel, “As far as we’ve heard, all talks of peace are now stalled.”
A groan filled the room and James put his hand up to invoke silence once again.

Roy continued, “The missile strikes were stopped, but CGT’s plan worked. Both countries see the attempted attack at the Conference, and in their countries, as an attack from the other side.”
Hannah inhaled deeply and shook her head, watching James’ reactions.
Roy shook his head, “all sources are saying there still may be an imminent war.”
Zeke stood, and James straightened his shoulders, watching Zeke as he considered his words.
“What happened, proves just how deep, and high, CGT really goes.” He slammed his hand onto the table and Hannah jumped, exhaling and looking up at the deep hurt and fury in Zeke’s eyes.
“My boss was a killer, and I didn’t see him as linked to CGT. I should have,” he looked down at Hannah. “They already took something I care deeply about. We can’t let them take anything else.”

Hannah stood and rested her hand on his arm, “Zeke’s right, this company goes deep. Deeper than I thought; than any of us thought.”
She turned to look at James and shrugged, “I know my memories are scattered, but even I can see that their reach extends globally.” Hannah looked around the table at people she could only vaguely recall and took a breath.
“I think we can take CGT down, and stop them once and for all.”
