THE FALL | Hannah Carmichael Chronicles (SIXTY-NINE)

Your Briefing:

Hannah Carmichael is a Super Spy, who was trying to take down CGT – the evil spy agency, which she used to be a part of. Her husband Zeke, was secretly working to take them down, and roped Hannah (and her fellow agent and best friend, Stephanie) into the fight.
Hannah’s mother Evelyn was a CGT and Global enemy, but now, she seems to have been on the same side all along. Her Father James, was believed to be dead, and missing for over a decade, but revealed himself from the fight in the shadows to help take them down once and for all.
After a mission which failed to bring back Hannah’s memories, the team have to decide what’s next. How will they show the world who CGT really is, and stop their Cataclysm event? Will Hannah EVER figure out who she was, and remember everything?

SIXTY-NINE

Sounds of arguing once again filled The Palace, as the debate continued over the next steps.
Finally James raised his hands up and the room died down, “I’ve made my decision, and you’re all just going to have to live with it.” He looked over at his main opposition and waited for them all to either nod, or shrug. “We’re taking this risk, because it seems to be the next logical step. Hannah didn’t regain any further memory in her little excursion,” he shot her a look and Hannah shrunk a little in her seat. Even though she didn’t remember her childhood with him, his glare still sent a Dad-like shiver down her spine.
“So we need to check our options for revealing CGT to the world. We just don’t know how high it all goes.”
“So we’re resorting to kidnapping then?” Sarah asked sharply.
“We’ve done it before,” Roy said as he continued to track down the last known coordinates of Anthony, Hannah’s former boss.
“Not with such a high ranking member; and not to put back where we found him,” Sarah snorted, folding her arms and slumping in her chair.
“We’re doing this,” James said, turning to Roy. “Have you got the location?” He asked, waiting for Roy to nod and lean back in his chair, “On you’re phone now Boss.”

James nodded, then turned to the team, sizing up the options of who to take. Zeke stood before he could announce his choice, “I want to in. My former boss and partner were both deep in this, so I may become useful at some stage.”
James nodded, then turned to Hannah, “What about you?”
“Me?” Hannah asked, feeling the confusion bubble into her voice.
“Anthony has a connection to you, regardless of if you remember it or not. It may work for us when we get the information we need out of him.”
Hannah thought for a moment then shrugged, “okay, lets do it, but I want to bring Stephanie. She has just as much relationship with him as I do.”
James agreed and they grabbed their weapons and supplies before piling into a blacked out SUV.

When they reached the city centre, Hannah listened to the snatch and grab plan again and they parked, waiting for Anthony to appear. Hannah turned to Zeke and lowered her voice, “I really do want to remember you know. Good or bad, I’d rather know it all.”
Zeke smiled softly at her and nodded, “I want you to remember too. Good or bad, I’ll always be here with you.”
“Guys, he just walked out,” Stephanie said from the driver’s seat of the SUV. The team pulled out their weapons, leaving their identities exposed, for hope of catching cameras and adding to the news coverage.
As they jumped out of the SUV, Anthony spotted their advance and dropped his briefcase, returning to the building. Papers from inside his it flew onto the street as the team split up. Hannah ignored the shouted instructions from her Father, following her instincts and chasing after the figure, which held a slight familiarity that she couldn’t place.
Anthony had chosen stairs over the elevator and Hannah climbed the twenty floors until she heard the roof door open and slam closed. As she opened the roof door, a rush of cold wind hit her face and she aimed her gun at nothing, trying to find the man.

As she reached closer to the un-fenced edge, Hannah felt a force bowl her over and she stumbled forward, closer to the edge of the building. She turned to see a smiling Anthony towering over her, “You should have stayed out of this Hannah. Got out when you could!” His voice was loud over the wind and the traffic below, and he kicked the gun out of her reach, pulling her up.
Before she could respond, before she could fight back, and before she could even breath, Anthony flung Hannah over the edge of the building.
She squinted her eyes as she lost her ability to scream and flashes of her life returned into her memory, just as she began to fall.

WHAT NOW | Hannah Carmichael Chronicles (SIXTY-EIGHT)

Your Briefing:

Hannah Carmichael is a Super Spy, who was trying to take down CGT – the evil spy agency, which she used to be a part of. Her husband Zeke, was secretly working to take them down, and roped Hannah (and her fellow agent and best friend, Stephanie) into the fight.
Hannah’s mother Evelyn was a CGT and Global enemy, but now, she seems to have been on the same side all along. Her Father James, was believed to be dead, and missing for over a decade, but revealed himself from the fight in the shadows to help take them down once and for all.
With Hannah’s memories sketchy after a CGT Kidnapping, it was decided that a mission may jog her memories. Desperate to remember, and to stop the World War III event – Cataclysm – will Hannah regain her memory, and stop a CGT weapons shipment?

SIXTY-EIGHT

The roar of an aeroplane overhead flooded Hannah’s ears as she tried to decipher Zeke’s shouts above the noise.
“What?” She asked, finally abandoning the idea that she could determine the words. He waited for the plane to pass over then pointed to the far right of the small airport, “That’s your position in the far right. The weapons shipment will land in Strip 7!”
Hannah nodded and the three agents split up, each taking a different vantage point. She wasn’t sure if this was going to bring back her memories, but Stephanie’s was coming back with every experience, so why not hers?

As she ducked behind an abandoned information counter, Hannah set herself up as if she worked there and sighed.
“You know I think this is a ridiculous idea right?” Zeke asked through their communication earwigs.
“Maybe, maybe not. The brain is an interesting maze,” Hannah said quietly as two pilots passed her on the tarmac.
“I guess, but putting yourself in danger when you don’t actually remember who it is your chasing, seems ridiculous.”
Hannah tried not to chuckle. “Okay, I’ll give you that one, but I have to try and jolt my memory back somehow. Then we can go public with this CGT agency, and blow the lid off their plans. Memories or not, I want to stop a world war.”
“Guys, incoming!” Stephanie shouted into the earwig as a large plane descended on Strip 7. Being the closest to the plane, her voice was barely audible above the sounds of the jet turbines. Hannah took in a breath, and checked for the gun that she had tucked into her waist.
“When they come out we’ll attack, and use the surprise to take out as many as possible. We can’t let these weapons reach CGT.”
As the plane got closer, even Zeke’s voice was beginning to fade under the noise. Hannah quickly made her way closer to the plane, which was now on the ground.
She reached cover and closed her eyes, taking in a deep breath, until shouts echoed from the direction of the plane.
Zeke started the count, “One, two, three!”

She turned and let shots fly from her gun as the three agents struck down the CGT weapons suppliers. When no others emerged, they slowly made their way closer to the plane. Flames licked out from all open spaces and Stephanie waved her arms, “Get back!”
The force of the blast slammed Hannah into the side of a truck and her ears rang with the aftershock. When she finally looked up, Zeke was yelling, his voice slowly becoming audible.
“Let’s go!” He shouted, helping her to her feet. They moved swiftly back to their car and Zeke skidded away from the explosion.
What now?

GUNS TO ACQUIRE | Hannah Carmichael Chronicles (SIXTY-SEVEN)

Your Briefing:

Hannah Carmichael is a Super Spy, who was trying to take down CGT – the evil spy agency, which she used to be a part of. Her husband Zeke, was secretly working to take them down, and roped Hannah (and her fellow agent and best friend, Stephanie) into the fight.
Hannah’s mother Evelyn was a CGT and Global enemy, but now, she seems to have been on the same side all along. Her Father James, was believed to be dead, and missing for over a decade, but revealed himself from the fight in the shadows to help take them down once and for all.
With Hannah’s memories sketchy after a CGT Kidnapping, she went with Zeke to a Peace Talks conference, where the Cataclysm domino’s were to start falling – but things went unexpectedly. Shots were fired into the crowd, at the leaders on the podium, and Zeke confirmed the shooter was his Boss – supposedly a ‘good guy’. What will this mean for the team, and for Cataclysm – is it still on? What will CGT do to strike back?

SIXTY-SEVEN

“Hey James,” Hannah said as she bumped into James Carmichael in the hallway.
“You know it’s weird when you call me James. It’s always been Dad,” He said with a smile.
Hannah shook her head, “Yeah. I’m starting to think my memories will never fully return.”
He put a hand on her shoulder, then steered her towards the main bullpen, “come on, we’re having a strategy meeting.”

As they walked into the large space, Hannah tried to keep track of the arguments, which were swirling around her. Cataclysm, the World War attempt, could still happen, but it seemed like everyone had a different idea on how to stop it.
“We should just go to the media and show them everything we have,” Stephanie said.
“Are you crazy? CGT would kill you, and any reporter you talked to before the story even aired,” Sarah – the weapons expert – said, as she stood and her chair fell to the ground behind her.
“We can’t just do nothing,” Zeke said as voices rose higher. Hannah sighed as she watched the room, everyone except James yelling out ideas. He was observing, just as she was.

Hannah finally stood, reaching into her waistband and pulling out a gun. As she let a shot slam into the roof, the agents inside drew their own weapons, aiming them in her direction until she put her hands up in surrender. “Fighting won’t solve anything. It seems like the more these people are in the shadows, the more power they have,” Hannah took in a deep breath, “So, I’m going to the media to give them everything we have.”
The room erupted with shouting once again, and Hannah looked over at her Father. After a minute, he nodded and stood himself. The room grew quiet without the use of a shot and Hannah tried not to smile.
“Hannah’s right, we need to get the word out there. We need to show the world what CGT is capable of. We’ve all been in the shadows too long.”
“But we can’t let Hannah do it, she can’t even remember working for CGT in the first place,” Zeke said, his voice shaking.
“I’ve been looking into this memory loss situation,” Hannah said quickly, before more yelling could begin. “Exposure to similar surroundings or activities can help jolt it back.”
“Maybe Zeke should give you a kiss, I’m sure that would jolt some things back,” Sarah said from the other side of the room. Giggles made the rounds and Hannah rolled her eyes, “I was thinking more about a tactical mission.”

She turned to Roy and took a few steps closer to his computer, “didn’t we talk about a gun shipment that CGT was expecting?”
“Yeah, but it’s small potatoes. Nothing that would make a real dent in their operations,” Roy said, shrugging and pulling up their snitch’s intel.
“That’s perfect. Just enough to get my feet wet,”
Zeke shook his head, “Hannah, you can’t remember-“
“Can’t remember what? Who people are? I’ve got all my muscle memory, all my shooting and tactical training. I don’t see why I can’t do this and see if it jogs something back,” Hannah folded her arms across her chest and Zeke smiled, shaking his head.
“What?” She asked, lowering her arms and taking a step backwards.
“It looks like you’ve made up your mind. You did the arms crossed thing.”

Hannah frowned and Zeke turned to James, “Stephanie has regained a lot of her memories as well. I could go with both of them and see if it can shake loose the memories for both of them. But I still don’t know about the Media situation.”
James took a minute, then nodded his head, turning to Evelyn Carmichael, “We’ll do the mission. Do you want to go too? Shake loose your memories?”
The woman, who was apparently Hannah’s mother smiled and shook her head, “Something tells me I don’t want to remember everything, and I’d much prefer to listen.”
James nodded and clapped his hands together, “alright then. Let’s get you all ready, you’ve got some guns to acquire.”

SuperSpy: What Would You Do? | HCC Update

Hannah Carmichael is a SUPER SPY Extraordinaire – but I could never be one…

I am too passive, too nice, and too empathetic to do what she does… but it’s nice to walk ALL THE WAY up to the line, then step back.
I am all for getting into car boots, throwing phones outside of moving vehicles, or trudging through jungle paths when it comes to writing a scene, but that’s as far as it goes!

Having said All of that – it’s always fun to dream about what it would be like… and what I would be able to do.
I could get tickets to ANY concert with a phone call:
“It would be advisable to provide me with two tickets to the Michael Buble concert. We have concerns that an individual at the concert is a risk to themselves, or possibly others.
No, no, you don’t have to cancel it. We have it covered!”

I could travel all over the world, or help my family to wipe out their parking tickets… The list goes on.

Of course, anything I did do for my family or close friends would be ‘off the books’ because who wants their boss asking why I charged $450 for concert tickets to Demi Lovato to my mission expense account… ummmmmm

Doing thorough background checks would certainly be handy – especially when it came to dating somebody.
“Yes, i’m a certified accountant.”
“Really? Because I couldn’t find any records of that in your background check.”
“My what?”

Okay, I can see how that would be awkward, but you get the idea!

What is the one thing that you would do for your family ‘off the books’ if you were a super spy??
Let me know in the comments below!

SIXTY-SIX

Hannah held the gun in her hand, angling it like she had seen as a kid in movies. It was funny how the memories were returning; slowly. Sometimes they were helpful, others not so much, but they were returning none the less.
The target seemed too far, but she readjusted her grip on the gun properly, letting three shots out of the pistol.

Pulling off her ear protection, she walked slowly towards the target and sighed, tracing her fingers over the perfectly placed shots.
Two to the heart, one to the head; how did she do that?
The door to the warehouse floor screeched open and Hannah turned, her gun raised out of an instinct that she didn’t realise was there. The woman at the door raised her own gun, then sighed as she recognised Hannah.
It was Stephanie Winchester.

“You startled me,” Stephanie said. Hannah slowly lowered her own weapon.
“I guess a spy shouldn’t admit that, but hey, we can’t remember all of our training,” Stephanie smiled then shrugged. As she glanced at Hannah’s target, Stephanie nodded towards it, “Weird huh? How we have the skills, just to not the memory on how we got them.”
Hannah nodded, then put the pistol onto the table and bent to pick up the long arms rifle she’d also carried in for practise.
“Heavy artillery ay?” Stephanie asked, chuckling. “I get some memories of us in remote locations, on missions together. Somehow, I’m not surprised that you’re a good shot.”

Hannah dropped the rifle back into the case and squared her shoulders, “Well I’m surprised. At least someone’s starting to remember, because I can’t remember jack!”
Stephanie raised both hands in a surrendering gesture and sighed, “I’m sorry Hannah. Some of the things that have come back to my mind,” she lowered her shoulders and looked at the ground, “I wish I didn’t have to remember them.”
Stephanie looked back up at Hannah and smiled softly, “You know, we were really close. I’m starting to miss it.”

Hannah stared at the person who only returned to her memories briefly. She’d seen Stephanie in a few mission memories, but the ones in social places, laughing and singing, those were her favourites.
“I just want everything to come back. I’m sick of feeling like I’m constantly out of a semi-familiar loop.”

Stephanie nodded and picked up her gun, holstering it and walking back towards the warehouse doors, “I’ll come back a bit later.”
“Stephanie?”
Stephanie Winchester turned and smiled, “Yeah?”
“Do I even want to remember everything?”
Stephanie shrugged, “maybe not.”

ONCE AND FOR ALL | Hannah Carmichael Chronicles (SIXTY-FIVE)

Your Briefing:

Shots were fired into the crowd, at the leaders on the podium, and Zeke confirmed the shooter was his Boss – supposedly a ‘good guy’. What will this mean for the team, and for Cataclysm – is it still on? What will CGT do to strike back?

SIXTY-FIVE

“Clearly we were wrong!”
Hannah tapped her pen on the large conference table, as shouting from all seats filled the room. They were reeling from the ‘Peace Talk’ debacle, but nobody was rocked as hard as Zeke. He was sitting beside her, arms resting on the table with no shouts to contribute to the discussion.
A whistle from the head of the table pierced through the noise, and silence struck the room.

“Bickering about blame or past actions isn’t productive,” James Carmichael said, leaning against the table and lowering his head.
“Roy, what are our sources telling us about the leaders and their Peace discussions?”
Roy stood with his tablet in hand, reading through their intel, “As far as we’ve heard, all talks of peace are now stalled.”
A groan filled the room and James put his hand up to invoke silence once again.

Roy continued, “The missile strikes were stopped, but CGT’s plan worked. Both countries see the attempted attack at the Conference, and in their countries, as an attack from the other side.”
Hannah inhaled deeply and shook her head, watching James’ reactions.
Roy shook his head, “all sources are saying there still may be an imminent war.”
Zeke stood, and James straightened his shoulders, watching Zeke as he considered his words.
“What happened, proves just how deep, and high, CGT really goes.” He slammed his hand onto the table and Hannah jumped, exhaling and looking up at the deep hurt and fury in Zeke’s eyes.
“My boss was a killer, and I didn’t see him as linked to CGT. I should have,” he looked down at Hannah. “They already took something I care deeply about. We can’t let them take anything else.”

Hannah stood and rested her hand on his arm, “Zeke’s right, this company goes deep. Deeper than I thought; than any of us thought.”
She turned to look at James and shrugged, “I know my memories are scattered, but even I can see that their reach extends globally.” Hannah looked around the table at people she could only vaguely recall and took a breath.
“I think we can take CGT down, and stop them once and for all.”
