Beach Vibes… Finally! | Travel Blog

I finally made it to a holiday! After two long years of lockdowns and masks, we got a chance to head up to Surfers Paradise in Queensland.

I will say, as my first experience in business class on the flight, it was a mixed bag. Loved having the pre-flight lounge with free breakfast and the extra leg room was always appreciated. However, my meal got sent to a man in another seat – and he didn’t even want it! So he wasted it, I got the other meal (disappointing for sure) so there was the downside.

The hotel we stayed in was beautiful and the 19th floor had a spectacular view of the ocean. I loved being so close to shops and the beach! City vibes with the ocean within a five minute walk was for sure my happy place. The only downside, the partiers also love Surfers for that reason. Almost every night we had loud partiers being very excited and a little tipsy (okay, a lot tipsy).

Here’s the video I made of the amazing views and travels:

There was a lot that I enjoyed on our holiday – the beach, the lagoon pool, getting to relax etc. But perhaps the best part, was buying BOOKS of course! I found one store that I don’t know of in Melbourne called BookFace, which was fun and popped a little book haul at the end of the video above.

I had a lot of fun documenting my little traveling adventure, and hope you get inspired to take a well deserved trip to Queensland as well!

If I Could Do One Thing….

What is a skill that you’ve always wanted to have?
Hannah Carmichael – super spy extraordinaire – woke up with amnesia, but confusing skills. She can shoot a gun, has excellent reflexes and other puzzling skills. Similar to Jason Bourne, it’s a little unsettling to know that you got these skills somehow, but don’t remember how, or why.

Thinking about skills though, got me to thinking. If I could wake up tomorrow and have ANY skill I want, what would it be?
I thought a little about having a sensible skill, like excellent Maths skills, or a nose which can smell where money is buried in the couch, even an eidetic memory (or for those who don’t know what that means, ‘photographic’), but in the end I decided on something a little more exciting.

If I could wake up tomorrow with just one skill, it would be the ability to surf like a pro with no fear! I love the idea of surfing, but the one time I tried it, I fell flat on my face, my fear of sharks kept me out of deep water, and I gave up. I know, I know, surfing takes practice and blah, blah… but for me, it wasn’t worth the bother. Plus it doesn’t help that I am such a clumsy human being, that I think if I was to stand up long enough, I would end up crashing into a dolphin.

I live in Australia, so i’m close to the ocean, it’s just not something i’ve set time aside to pursue. So, waking up tomorrow with the ability already inside me, yeah, that would be pretty cool.

What’s a skill that you would like? If you could wake up tomorrow and just HAVE it, what would you choose? Let me know in the comments!
