This was not what I had been expecting, with some elements a lot more open door than I had bargained for… so was it worth it?
Fragile Sanctuary

The scowl should’ve been my first clue to stay far away from Anson Hunt. The sexy smirk and the fact that he’s my brother’s best friend? Reasons two and three. Not to mention, he’s the new contractor working on my house. He’s everything I’m not: grumpy, rude, and more than a little attached to his solitude. It doesn’t matter how many times I try to kill him with kindness; the man simply won’t crack. Until he sees me shatter.
Because when my world comes crashing down around me, Anson is the one catching me as I fall. And as so-called accidents start plaguing every part of my life, it’s Anson who steps in to keep me safe. As he does, I can’t help but feel a flicker of heat. And it only takes a single moment for that spark to ignite into flames, engulfing us both. But Anson’s a man with secrets, and they have a price. When they’re revealed, neither of us will make it out unscathed…

My Review

Ummm, well that wasn’t what I expected.
I didn’t realise this was an open door book until I was already in it. For some reason the content warnings I looked at did not put that on the list, which I really wish it would have. I’m a closed door book preferred reader, so it was a little bit Unusual. Having said that, I made it all the way to the end because I wanted to see how the rest of the plot would conclude. I liked it, I thought that the characters were on the heavy side, there was a lot of grief and loss that was looked at, discussed, and dealt with. I thought it was done pretty well, and pretty realistically. I enjoyed the mystery part of the story, however I will say the reveal at the end was more of the. “ Let’s not give the reader any clues whatsoever and throw an absolute curveball at the end” type of conclusion. I don’t like those, because they feel undeserved, and almost like a trick on the reader. Rather than laying down clues all the way through, if you were smart to pick them up or if you look back and think of course, those are the better reveals. This was very much a zero clues given type of a reveal.
Would I Recommend This Book?
