The Hannah Carmichael Chronicles

While collecting a USB which contains important information regarding a terrorist attack, someone was Shot. Hannah Carmichael, an undercover spy in the crooked agency CGT, is trying to stop the attack which is being planned by her mother Evelyn. Along with her husband Zeke, best friend and fellow agent Stephanie and ex-boyfriend and fellow agent Ian, they were stopped by Moroz, another agent of CGT. After confessing he was secretly trying to take down CGT for selfish reasons, a shot rang out and Hannah turned to see the shooting. Who was shot? Did they survive? It could be anyone.
THIRTY-ONE
The sound of the shot echoing through the dock rang in Hannah’s ears as she tried to focus on the funeral service. The words from the minister were muffled as the scene ran on a loop in Hannah’s mind. She had reached down to get the drive, then looked up to see the murder. Her business was filled with deaths, but this one was personal.
She felt a hand on her shoulder and she turned to see Stephanie, a tear falling down her own cheek. She tried to smile at Hannah, then turned back to the minister. Hannah took in a shaky breath and tried to focus,
“He was a kind man, who made the world a better place. His sacrifice will go down in our hearts, and the lives he saved will fondly remember him.”
Hannah tuned out the rest of the eulogy and looked at her fellow mourners. His family were here, but she couldn’t bring herself to face them. Slowly, people started to stand and give condolences. Hannah ducked out quickly, unable to face anyone.
She heard footsteps behind her and quickened her pace. Through the fog she heard Stephanie calling her name and she stopped. Slamming into the back of Hannah, she and Stephanie tumbled forward.
Dirt went into Hannah’s mouth as she failed to brace herself properly on the ground. She coughed and her eyes watered. Turning slowly she looked over at Stephanie who was breathing heavily on the ground.
“Sorry,” Hannah mumbled as she pushed herself up. She reached out her hand and helped Stephanie, wiping her mouth. They started walking towards their car.
Their new undercover case worker, Noel, was sending a driver to collect them. Hannah would never normally have accepted such a risk, but after the events a few weeks ago, she didn’t care.
As they reached the car, Hannah slid inside and looked across the seat to where Noel was looking down at papers. Stephanie followed her into the car and without looking up, Noel tapped on the glass behind him. The car began to move and Hannah leaned forward.
“Sorry our first meeting had to be on this particular day.” He said, finally looking up. Stephanie scoffed and crossed her arms, slouching back in her seat.
“Where are we at?” Hannah asked, her voice cold. She wasn’t in the mood for pleasantries. Noel’s left eyebrow raised slightly and he sighed.
“I’m very sorry for your loss, however the mission remains the same.” Noel paused and looked back at his papers.
“Taking down CGT and Evelyn Carmichael is our top priority right now.” He reached over with a small envelope and handed it to Hannah. She opened it,
“Those are the instructions on how to contact me for updates on your progress.” Noel shifted in his seat and Hannah passed the envelope to Stephanie.
“This is our top priority as well Noel.” Hannah said, narrowing her eyes. “We’re going to stop Evelyn and take down CGT, no matter the cost.”
