The Renegades Series: Heroes and Villains That Blur the Same Line

Estimated Reading Time: 7min

What happens when only the bad guys have the super powers? No Superman coming in to save the day, just trying to survive when the baddies are the ones definitely in charge… but is there a group that are willing to stand up? Or maybe, a spy.

Renegades

meyer

The Renegades are a syndicate of prodigies–humans with extraordinary abilities–who emerged from the ruins of a crumbled society and established peace and order where chaos reigned. As champions of justice, they remain a symbol of hope and courage to everyone…except the villains they once overthrew.Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice–and in Nova. But Nova’s allegiance is to a villain who has the power to end them both.

My Review

Good superhero story.
Liked the moral questions raised, the power dynamic exploration of super powered people, and how the world is set up.
Nicely written and easy to get through.
Characters were great, and lots of interesting questions to keep you coming back for the next book.

My Review

Just going to start this off the bay – where the heck is Dana!
This is the second book where she basically has a role in the main superhero team, but it’s barely there. First book she was unconscious and this book incapacitated. Why even have here there?!
Anyways, apart from that, I liked this second instalment. Things are heating up for the characters as they balance their double lives. The ideas of power being bad for anyone to have too much of, and heroes vs villains (are we really either) are well explored.
Characters are moving forward and continuing the journey. Loving it – being on book 3!

My Review

Sacrifices, bravery, fear and politics.
That is this book in a nut shell.
Happy with where everything ended up (minus the utterly unnecessary epilogue…. Ummm, novella please!) and characters were written in a way that felt like an east progression of development and arcs.
Devastation happened, allies formed and broken, and just basically a hero battle the likes of Avengers End Game.
I think it does need a novella to make up for the glaring and gaping hole that this epilogue left, but otherwise things were pretty satisfying.

Would I Recommend This Book?

Yes, this series is a good read and an interesting look into how things change when the bad guys have the powers.
