I Read More Representative Fiction

People want diversity in stories, and it does exist. So I read some books that have people of different ethnicities to see how they were.

The Love Script by Toni Shiloh

A really great look into not only dating in the craziness of celebrity, but with a heart that wants to stay true to Gods ways within relationship.
Fake dating is always a fun trope and this threw a cool twist in the mix. I loved the Christian themes that were touched throughout, not just about relationships with each other, but with God too. I can see the sequels now and I’m excited for them.
I think that Toni has an incredible way of giving a funny, inspiring and really depth filled story. Love it!

Tokyo Ever After by Emiko Jean

Just such an amazing read.
Hilarious, heartwarming and a truely beautiful story. It was great to see the Japanese culture from a somewhat outsider POV but also connecting someone to a part of their culture that they hadn’t explored much.

Cherished by Kim Cash Tate

Enjoyed the music aspect.
Characters were flawed but easy to identify with and you feel for them as they find their way through their problems and their faith in light of it.
Pretty strong abortion theme so be aware if you’re affected by that content. Also an assault so be aware of that too.
Faith was well weaved and not too hard at the reader, it felt natural which was nice.

I Believe In A Thing Called Love by Maureen Goo

I am so glad that I found this book from another readers review!
I don’t ordinarily read anything remotely ‘Romantic Comedy’ without some crime / fantasy, but I LOVED this.

I almost felt like I was intruding on Desi’s personal thoughts (in a good way!). It was such a cool way to experience the story. It was a personal story, so the POV was great.
I really liked the characters, the story, and the writing style. It was funny, moving and interesting in all the right ways.

I’m officially going to have to add more Romance/Comedy books to my bookshelf!

To Win a Prince by Toni Shiloh

Such a great love story.
Haven’t read the first book, but It didn’t matter. Backstory was explained without feeling info dumpy.

Ekon’s character was frustrating to watch but well done and I liked how his journey felt true to the character, but also viewed the idea of change.

Iris was great. Empaths are not always explored well or written well, but I thought it was handled very well. Her story was also nice to watch unfold.

The romance was nice. It didn’t feel too forced, though I will admit the Insta love thing is not really my favourite and there was a small amount of that here.

I liked how God and Faith were woven in.
I also liked seeing some of the cultural things as well.

Really good read, and I would recommend this romance book for sure.

Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan

Great peek into the rich person culture as well as looking at an American Chinese divide from those born overseas. As someone who spent several years living in Malasia when I was young (and still knows several aunties and uncles from that time) this was such a comfort read. It was so fun to see it all unfold and be reminded of real life people. Fun romance and I did enjoy the story.

These books were great in seeing a story with a different culture represented. I had a great time, and will probably keep the train rolling as I find some good books to add to my collection.

Do you have any suggestions?
