Is it just me, or are there books in your bookcase that you’ve had for 100 years, but never seem to get around to reading? The ones that always get pushed to the side for the new and shiny books that you buy?
Yeah, well me too. So, i decided to read them all instead of the shiny new books and find out what all the hubub was about when i originally bought them. This genre is ROMANCE – and most of it is CHRISTIAN ROMANCE, but i think there are some surprises thrown in along the way as well, here are the results:

The Heart Between Us by Lindsay Harrel
3.5 stars
I quite enjoyed this story.
It felt more character focussed rather than on the actual bucket list items, so we saw more of the sisters relationship, romance on both sides, and work related stuff.
I found the sisters to have an Elsa/Anna relationship, which I enjoyed. The growth was really nice.
I would have liked more focus on the actual bucket list items, but I am a plot girl.

Alls Fair in Love and Cupcakes by Betsy St Amant
4.5 stars
Friends to lovers, cupcake reality wars, Faith and everything in between.
I really enjoyed the characters and the way the plot progressed. The only thing I would have liked to have seen more of, is the behind the scenes of the baking tv show.

The Words Between Us by Erin Bartels
1 star
I made it through about a third of this book before I skipped to the last few chapters… honestly, I didn’t miss too much either.
I didn’t like the dual timelines.
The difference in character for Robin was jarring as we jumped back and forth – I just wanted one character not a watered down and super spunky flip flop.
The “mystery” part was dull and didn’t have me hooked.
The weird obsession with death at the start was unnerving.
I just wasn’t feeling this book at all.

Super Fake Love Song by David Yoon
2.5 stars dnf (skipped to end) at 1/3 mark
Funny writing, likeable and Interesting characters and story idea. What killed it for me, were the too many satanic/demonic references

This is Not the Jess Show by Anna Carey
4 stars
The plot wasn’t anything I didn’t expect, but it surprised me in how much I enjoyed this book anyway.
The second half was especially exciting and kept me interested. I liked Jess and our other main love interest that was funny, brave and kind of cheesy.
It was a quick, easy and entertaining read.

Tacos For Two by Betsy St Amant
4.75 stars
A mix between You’ve Got Mail and Pride and Prejudice, with some food trucks thrown into the mix.
Loved it, only I hate miscommunication so that was my only downside.
References that were funny and poignant, relationships that were layered and complex, resolutions that felt more realistic than Insta-love and a backbone of cooking and family.
So much fun to read.
so there you have it: the books i had neglected. have you read any of those? if you want to know more about them, just click the names to head to the Goodreads page and find out more.
See You in the Adventures!
